Northumberland’s BE Under 17 Bronze tournament was run parallel to the Under 13 event in late November and again saw medals of all colours won by our county juniors. The honours went to Lucy and James Dodd, Charlotte Graham, Amy Ward, Ollie Edmondson, Jack Tilbury and Matthew Short who were all placed in the medal positions. (more…)

Northumberland’s U18s continued their strong start to the Shires League season with an impressive 17-3 victory over North rivals Cumbria, at Tyneside Badminton Centre in early December.
Northumberland’s team were: Charlotte Graham, Eve Beechinor-Collins, Natalie Ho, Teeda Prapunwong, Dominic Wilson-Baker, Jai Nayyar, Matty Grant and Sonny Ho. ![]()
On a very cold start-of-December day, Northumberland’s Under16 team travelled to the neutral venue of Pontefract to play Cheshire in their first match of the season in the Shires League. The team, managed by Joel Dodd, was Charlotte Graham, Ellen Davison, Katrina Ho, Lucy Dodd, Hugh Twelves, Jack Tilbury, Jamie Grant and Ollie Edmondson. They were up against a strong Cheshire team, including a number of high achievers on the junior national Circuit. On paper this was going to be a tough match for Northumberland and so it proved to be – although the final score of 17-3 in Cheshire’s favour was perhaps an unfair overall reflection of the whole match. A technical problem with our website has meant there has been a delay in posting reports for the juniors’ initial Shires League matches. The first of these took place at TBC in mid-November when the Under 18s played Yorkshire2. This was a close match which we just lost 9-11 and the following is team manager Karen Davison’s report.
