Although the Tyne and Wear derby ended in a draw, there were plenty of winners in the North Tyneside Junior Badminton Tournament which was held on the same day in John Spence Community High School sports hall.  Over 40 players aged between 11 and 19 years old  from both sides of the Tyne and from further afield in Northumberland, enjoyed a series of hard fought and close games.  (more…)

In its last outing before the season-ending Inter-County Tournament, the Under 17 team scored a fine 14-6 win over Cumbria.  Both teams were without top-ranked players, Northumberland resting Sarah Wilson and Cumbria missing James Robertson.  Our team was Emily Harrison, Anna Railton, Rachel Bogan and Rebecca Oakley (both making their first appearances at this age level), Ashraf Alam, Gyan Chadda, Jamie Tinnion and George Moran. Northumberland & Durham took a team to Sheffield for the North Midway Under 14 tournament last weekend. This was the second round of this age-group event, with the results being aggregated with those from the pre-Christmas round to give overall placings. Northumberland took a team to the Primary level event of the North Midway League last weekend. This was the first time in recent memory that we have been to the starter event from the four age groups run by the NMBL and it was just great that we were able to put out a team from our new Futures group.
The team, managed by Karen Davison, was Ellen Davison, Charlotte Graham, Amy Ward and Jude Lapworth (of Durham); Ollie Bruce, Matty Stienlet, Alex Sutherland and Jack Tilbury. (more…)

Our Under 15s played Lancashire 2 today at the TBC and scored an excellent 13-7 victory.  The team, managed by Ian Bambrick, was:

Boys: George Moran, Melvin Cherian, Andrew Liang, Joshua Xu
