Northumberland Badminton Association is run by a voluntary workforce who strive to deliver our visions and values.

Dennis Gray
President, Chairman & Disciplinary Officer
As Chairman of the Northumberland Badminton Association, Dennis chairs all committee meetings and annual general meetings. He also has oversight of various sub-committees within the association and Performance Centre.

Norma Waterfield
Secretary
Norma Waterfield, Secretary, is responsible for dealing with all correspondence of the Northumberland Badminton Association. Her role includes preparing documents and producing minutes for annual general meetings and management committee meetings.

Julie Brown
Treasurer
Julie’s role is to ensure that all of the associations bills are paid on time and producing the annual accounts. As well as her role as treasurer, you will find Julie assisting with tournaments, running the Anglo Scottish League events, as well as organising other events for the NBA. In her spare time, Julie plays at Elmfield Badminton Club.

Steve Abbott
Vice Chairman, Head of Senior Play & BE General Meetings Delegate
Steve is responsible for the production of the annual tournament and match calendar and the sanctioning of BE tournaments in the county. As well as organising and assisting with tournaments, Steve is Vice President of the NBA, Chairman of selectors for senior county teams and he represents Northumberland in BE general meetings. Steve also sits on the BE competitive play board co-ordinating inter-counties matches.

Steve Porter
Clubs Co-ordinator and Head of NBA TBC Partnership Committee
Within his role, Steve acts as the point of contact for all clubs in Northumberland. Additionally, he runs the NBA Graded Tournaments, as well as acting as secretary at senior BE tournaments in Northumberland. Steve played at St Gabriel’s Badminton Club for many years, and heads up the NBA/TBC Partnership Committee.

Martin Fagan
Head of Junior Play
Martin, a Level 3 qualified coach, is the NBA Performance Centre’s Head Coach, as well as being a senior county selector. Within his role, he co-ordinates coaching for all four of Northumberland’s junior performance squads. Martin is also responsible for all junior fixtures and team selection. Outside of his role at NBA, Martin coaches all age groups across the county. In his spare time, Martin plays at Telecom Badminton Club.

Karen Davison
Schools Coaching Co-ordinator
As Schools Coaching Co-ordinator, Karen keeps in contact with schools in the county and delivers coaching to children of all ages, as well as running festivals. Alongside this, she works closely with Martin within the Performance Centre as coach and county squad selection. Outside of her role, she is part of Morpeth Riverside Badminton Club where she looks after junior and senior squads.

Alison Thompson
Senior Leagues Secretary
As Senior Leagues Secretary, Alison is responsible for the co-ordination of league results and tables throughout the season, as well as ensuring compliance with the league rules. On top of her main responsibilities, Alison is a senior county selector. In her spare time, Alison plays at Elmfield Badminton Club, where she is also Secretary.

Sarah Burtenshaw
Safeguarding and Welfare Officer
Within her role, Sarah deals with all safeguarding and welfare issues. If you need to complete a DBS application, contact Sarah is she is a document verifier. Using her Level 2 coaching qualification, Sarah helps deliver coaching activity across the county, as well as at Tyneside Badminton Centre, where she is Assistant Manager & Tournament Lead. In her spare time, Sarah plays at St Gabriel’s Badminton Club.
