Under 14 Shires draw with Lancs2

Our young and very inexperienced Under 14 team bounced back from a tough opening defeat to Yorkshire by sharing the spoils with Lancashire 2.  Playing for the first time on the new courts at the Northumberland Club in Jesmond and managed by Karen Davison, the team was – Charlotte Graham, Ellen Davison, Lucy Dodd and Naomi Silva; Jack Tilbury, James Dodd, Matthew Joyce and Tim Bodani.

All four mixed doubles went to three ends but Tim & Ellen and Jack & Lucy won their matches to make it 2-all.  Our four boys then scored maximum points in their singles with excellent wins.  Lucy had a great three-end win but Lancs took the other three girls singles to leave the score 7-5 to Northumberland.  Still all to play for.  Three more wins from the boys doubles pairs made it 10-6 and we were on the brink of victory.  Charlotte & Ellen were involved in a very tight match but lost the third end to 18 and Lancs also took the other three girls doubles to draw the match at 10-all.

Very well done to the team – a great effort.  Good luck in the next match against Yorks2 on the 15th.
