Boys Doubles Success at Tees Valley

The Under 14 bronze tournament at Thornaby last weekend saw success in the boys doubles for Northumberland’s youngsters Tim Bodani and Matthew Short.  Their group matches were all extremely tight but, with the top seeds underperforming, the other three pairs were tied on 2 wins and one loss each: however, Tim and Matthew prevailed as group  winners with much the best points difference, to move into the final.  Here they came up against the second seeds from Nottinghamshire but after a great fight they just went down 19-21, taking the silver medals.  Very well done to them.
There were several more of our juniors playing at Thornaby but none of them made the later stages.  Charlotte Graham got the closest, winning two of her group matches and only going down 17-21 to the group winner and losing finalist.
