This season’s U19 tournament took place at the new TBC this weekend.  Unfortunately there were less competing teams than usual, leaving Northumberland to battle against three teams from north of the border.  Lothian are always strong and we went down 3-12, with wins from Philip and Sarah in mixed, Robyn in singles and Sarah and Ellie R in level doubles.  West of Scotland had to concede all three girls doubles but still came out winners 9-6: we had wins from Dan C/Ellie R, Robyn and Philip.  The team put in a strong performance against Lanarkshire, winning 12-3, with all players scoring at least one win.  This gave them third place overall on the first day.  The Sunday saw return matches against West (lost 5-10) and Lanark (just lost 7-8).

There were some encouraging performances all round and the star of Saturday was probably under 15 Ellie Roberts who, having lost her first match, then proceeded to win the next 4: an excellent outing for her.

Playing for the team over both days: Annie Karn, Beth Railton, Ellie Charalambous, Ellie Roberts, Hannah Charlton, Lexie Howard, Megan Porter, Robyn Luckley, Sarah Wilson; Daniel Conway, Daniel Rogerson, David Murray, Finn Connor-Watson, Garrylee McMullen, Jishnu Bhattacharya, Jonathan Gilchrist, Philip Pahatouridis, Ruiao Hu, Zarius Ferozepurwalla.  (Ellie C and Finn were guesting).
