On 26 and 27 May 2018 the Northumberland under 13 team competed in the Anglo Scottish tournament at the Scottish National Sports Centre in Largs, Ayrshire. The team comprised Xuehan Zhang, Ryan Cockett, Cameron Twynholm, Sam Best, Lucy Dodd, Eve Beechinor Collins, Merin Cherian and Anna Craig (borrowed from West of Scotland). This was a new experience for most of the team, with only one having played in the event before. The team managers were Gillian Cockett and Joel Dodd and this is Joel’s report on the weekend. (more…)

Ponteland Academy’s Under 14 team, under the guidance of their coach Phil Hall, put in a great performance to finish in 3rd place in the finals of the National Junior League, which were held recently at the National Badminton Centre at Milton Keynes. This continued their progress of recent years, seeing them advance from 6th in 2016 and 5th last year. (more…)
In 2003, while he was Chair of North Tyneside Council, Councillor John Carter became an avid fan of badminton, attending a number of our tournaments in North Tyneside. He decided that he would like to set up an annual award for the most promising boy and girl in Northumberland, and so the annual Under 12 awards were established. (more…)
