Well done to the U17 team for their 11-9 victory over the Yorkshire 2 team. They got off to a great start in the mixed, winning three of the four matches: but they were all very tight and all went to three ends. Three more wins came in the boys singles, from Philip and Zarius with Ruiao just squeezing home in a very close three-ender – possibly a crucial win, as it turned out. The girls singles were shared, with good wins for Annie (in three ends) and Robyn.
And so into the level doubles with Northumberland leading 8-4 but with the result still in doubt. Two good wins came from Philip and Zarius. Ruiao and Garrylee lost a very close match and then Garrylee unfortunately succumbed to illness and a match had to be conceded. One win was still needed and this came from Annie and Alisha. Robyn and Megan got very close in their last game to leave the overall score at 11-9, making up in part for the recnt 9-11 reversal against Lancashire 2.
