Successes in Tees Valley U15 Bronze

A sizeable contingent of our juniors travelled down to Thornaby recently and came back with several medals of all three colours.

The mixed doubles yielded gold medals for Charlotte Graham and Tim Bodani, with Lucy and James Dodd backing them up with silvers.  Earlier, James had performed stongly in the boys singles, winning his group and beating second seed, Yorkshire’s Joe Firth, in the semi final, before losing 11-21 to Scott Mackenzie (Scotland) in the final.  Idan Cherlin, Jack Tilbury, Hugh Twelves and Kaleb Cannon all won two group matches.  In the boys doubles, James and Jack were seeded second and won two of their group matches but went down to the eventual winners.

In the girls events, Lucy Dodd and Ellen Davison both won three of their singles group matches but could not progress to the knockout stage.  Lucy, who was playing up an age group, lost to the top seed but scored her first win over team-mate Charlotte.  Amy Ward won two matches and Eve Beechinor-Collins, in her first BE event, chalked up a win.  In the girls doubles, Charlotte and Amy won three matches to come runners-up, closely followed by Ellen and Lucy with two wins.

Well done to all the players for a very successful trip to Teesside.
