A weekend of near-misses for our Under 16 team at Sheffield meant that they finished 6th of the 10 teams – but it could so nearly have been better.Having started with two good wins over Lancs and Yorks 2, we lost to a strong Derby team and then came up just short against Warwick. With Lancs, Warwick and Northumberland all on two wins each, we lost out to Warwick by a mere 2 points to finish 3rd in our group. So instead of playing off for 3rd or 4th places, we had to play Cheshire for 5/6th. That match was even closer, finishing 5 matches all and 117 points all: but countback on first-string wins gave the victory to Cheshire. But there were some excellent contributions from all on the team – Annie Karn, Hannah Charlton, Alisha Israni and Naomi Chidambaram; Ruiao Hu, Euan Russell, Stephen Allan, Garrylee McMullen and Zarius Ferozepurwalla.
Thanks also to Norman and Sharon, for looking after the team on the day, and to the travelling support of Duncan, Hugh, Vandana and KP.
