Junior Presentation Evening and Farewell to Rob

The Presentation Evening for our Northumberland Juniors was held recently to celebrate the successes of the season just ended.  The engraved perpetual cups and shields were presented to the singles, level doubles and mixed winners of the four age group county championships.  The multiple winners were Lucy and James Dodd, Andrew Liang, Ashraf Alam, Emily Harrison and Philip Pahatouridis.  Certificates were also presented to all those who had represented the various county teams.  Special awards of the Bob Forster silver salvers were made to the “Most Promising” boy and girl, Anna Railton and Jamie Tinnion, with junior half colours being awarded to Matty Jerdan and full colours to Jamie Tinnion.  Congratulations to them all.

A very pleasant evening, spent at the British Legion Club in West Jesmond, concluded with the players and their parents marking the sad departure of County Coach, Rob Wetherell.  After the best part of a decade working with our seniors and juniors and with the County’s Performance Centre, Rob has been offered a wonderful opportunity to move up the coaching ladder and work in Italy as National Coach.  He will certainly be missed by all of us and the juniors recognised this, presenting him with a print of the Tyne Bridges – an attempt to make him feel homesick.  All the very best, Rob!
