Having spent many months with their family split between north and south, the Banerjees have finally decided to grasp the nettle and follow Raj down to Hampshire. Clearly this will be a great loss to Northumberland badminton but, of course, they go with our very best wishes. Actually it seems that Sandhya will be around in Newcastle for a while longer, so we hope that we can still benefit from her considerable organisational abilities. But Mayank has already left for a period of work experience in London, probably followed by university. And Ira starts at her new school in Salisbury on the first Monday in October.
Ira has helped to raise the profile of badminton in Northumberland over the last few years, becoming a multiple national champion at under 11 and under 13, going off to represent England on a number of occasions, winning regularly on the tournament circuit and supporting our various age-group teams. We will certainly miss her!
Many thanks to them for all that they have done for badminton in Northumberland and the very best of luck to all four of them for the future.
