An under 17 team travelled down to Thornaby yesterday for the annual team tournament, this year contested with teams from Cumbria, Cheshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire and a rather short-handed Durham.  We scored a 9-1 win over Durham, followed by a good 6-4 win over Cumbria.  Predictably, Yorkshire and Lancashire proved tougher opponents and we lost 2-8 and 1-9 respectively.  The final match against Cheshire was much closer with some excellent matches but we lost 3-7.  The highlight of the day was undoubtedly Philip’s demolition of his Cumbrian singles opponent after a near flawless display: brilliant!  Overall we finished 4th and Lancashire were the winners.
