BE Under 15 Cumbria Bronze

Multiple Medals in Chilly Penrith!

Read on for the report from Elizabeth Alam (and many thanks to her for it) … A large crowd of our Under 15s made its way last weekend across the A69, dusted with snow, to a very icy car park and a very, very cold sports hall in Penrith!  In the singles, Ashraf Alam won his group and quarter final, but had to settle for the bronze medal after being slightly off his game in his semi final against Daniel Inge: an excellent result for Ashraf, still an U13.  Sarah Wilson and Ellie Roberts collected bronze medals after coming third in the single girls’ doubles group, and Jonathan Elsdon and Ashraf Alam silver medals after winning their boys’ doubles group, but losing out to the very experienced Joseph Bowden-Mills and Rory Wilkinson in the final.  But the best was still to come, when Ellie and Ashraf won their mixed doubles group, and then had nerves of steel to come from behind to win the final 22-20 against a strong Cheshire pair.  Thank you to all who stayed to cheer Ellie and Ashraf to success at the end of a long day (lots of hot drinks needed!).  Well done to all the players (and to the suffering supporters!)
