At the beginning of the NBA EGM on Sunday 10 September there was a surprise presentation.  The English Badminton Award for Longstanding Exceptional Service to Badminton in England was presented to three long-serving Northumberland BA volunteers.  Dennis Gray, Julie Brown and Mike Waterfield were presented with their awards by Alison O’Dell, a member of Badminton England’s Board of Directors.  NBA Secretary Norma Waterfield, who had nominated all three, was delighted that her nominations had been successful and commented, “All three thoroughly deserve their award.  They have done so much for Badminton in Northumberland over very many years.”

Previous recipients of the same award are Steve Abbott and Norma Waterfield [2010] and Ian Ferguson and the late Walter Arkley [2006] and Bob Pearson [2005].
