BE NATIONAL SCHOOLS COMPETITION

GIRLS

The County round of the girls competition was held at Tyneside Badminton Centre.

9 teams took part in the KS3 Girls and 8 in the KS4 Girls.  Results below –

KS3 Event

  1.  Royal Grammar School
  2. Ponteland High School
  3. Newcastle High School for Girls

KS4 Event

  1. Royal Grammar School
  2. Newcastle High School for Girls
  3. Longridge Towers

RGS won both KS3 and KS4 events; they progressed  to the Regional round at Thornaby on 19th March, playing the winners from the Durham and Yorkshire rounds.

BOYS

The County round of the boys competition was held at Tyneside Badminton Centre.

7 teams took part in both KS3 and KS4.   Results below –

KS4 Event

1. King Edward VI

 2.  Ponteland High

3.  Gosforth Academy

Ponteland High School and KEVI won KS3 and KS4 events respectively; they progressed to the Regional round at Thornaby on 19th March, playing the winners from the Durham and Yorkshire rounds.

Badminton England’s Regional Manager, Beccy Lewis was visiting the area and presented the boys with their medals.

KS3 RGS Girls won and progressed through to the National Finals in April at Milton Keynes.

National Schools Championship Finals – April

RGS KS3 Girls traveled to Milton Keynes for the national finals at the weekend and finished in 6th place.
