2011 Minutes

MINUTES OF THE LEAGUE FIXTURES MEETING OF NORTHUMBERLAND BADMINTON ASSOCIATION HELD AT THE BENFIELD CENTRE FOR SPORTING EXCELLENCE, NEWCASTLE, ON SUNDAY 11 SEPTEMBER 2011 AT 6.30 p.m.

 

The Chairman opened the meeting by welcoming all club representatives present. All clubs competing in the Northumberland Leagues were represented apart from LNER.  Also present were the following members of Northumberland Badminton Association Management Committee: Mr R Pearson (Hon President), Mr D Gray,

(Hon Chairman), Miss J Brown (Hon Treasurer) and Mrs A Thompson (League Secretary).

APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

 

Mr I Ferguson (Hon Vice President), Mrs N Waterfield (Hon Secretary), Mr R Taylor (Management Committee),

Mr M Waterfield (Management Committee), and Mrs D Hogg (LNER).

 

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING

 

The Minutes of the previous meeting, held on Sunday 5 September 2010, were approved by the club representatives present and duly signed by the Chairman as a true record of the proceedings.

 

SENIOR LEAGUES – REFEREE’S REPORT.

 

Mrs Thompson gave a brief report on the leagues last season. She informed the meeting that the rules on submission of match results would be strictly enforced this season. There were a number of minor changes in the numbers in the divisions of the league for the coming season.

 

CLUB/MATCH SECRETARY’S BOOKLET

 

A small number of amendments to the booklet were noted.

 

TOURNAMENTS

 

The Chairman mentioned that the tournament calendar was now available on the NBA website. There was a full range of tournaments as last year. He also asked that clubs give thought to running graded tournaments as more volunteers were needed to support the full programme of events.

 

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

 

The Chairman mentioned that the NBA website had recently been updated. Special thanks were due to Mr Andrew McGill for all his work in developing the site and to members of the Management Committee who had contributed content for the site. It was still considered as work in progress and feedback would be welcomed.

 

There being no further business, the Hon Chairman thanked those present for attending.  He then wished everyone good luck for the coming season and duly closed the meeting.
