CHAIR OF NORTH TYNESIDE’S ANNUAL AWARDS FOR
THE MOST PROMISING UNDER 12 GIRL AND BOY IN THE COUNTY
In 2003, while he was Chair of North Tyneside Council, Councillor John Carter became an avid fan of badminton, attending a number of events which were staged in North Tyneside. He decided that he would like to set up an annual award for the most promising boy and girl in Northumberland, and so the annual Under 12 awards were established. Each year, in the Spring, the two most promising Under 12 players receive their award from whoever is the current Chair of North Tyneside Council. Mostly this ceremony takes place at the North Tyneside Council Offices, accompanied by a Civic Reception, but Northumberland Badminton Association has invited the North Tyneside civic dignitaries up to our HQ to present the shields on a couple of occasions.
The 2016 winners are Charlotte Graham and Tim Bodani, currently members of our new Futures group.
