About

The objective of the Northumberland County Senior Leagues is to provide competitive match play between clubs affiliated to the NBA in both mixed doubles, mens doubles and ladies doubles.

The leagues are organised into three leagues:

  • mixed doubles league
  • mens doubles league
  • ladies doubles league

Each league is split into divisions of approximately 5 teams, (depending on numbers it is sometimes necessary to have 4 or 6 teams in a division).

Teams play each other twice a season in a home and away match, giving 8 matches for each team in a league (6 or 10 matches if there are 4 or 6 in the leagues).

Matches are played under the rules as specified by the County and are amended for the current season.

For each match the home team is responsible for completing the scorecard which must be signed by both captains and posted to the league secretary as soon as possible after the match.

The league secretary records the match results then passes the scorecard to the person responsible for the grading system for updating the gradings.

The league placings are updated and are published at the end of the season and at intermediate points throughout the season when there are considered to be sufficient results to give some useful information.

There is a trophy for each division which is engraved at the end of the season. These are awarded either at the presentation evening if one has been arranged, or if not at the following AGM when all clubs are present.

The leagues fund themselves by each team paying an entry fee.

League Tables for the current season can be found here.
