Every year we run Junior Restricted Tournaments. “Restricted” means that only players eligible to represent Northumberland can enter. To be eligible you must meet at least one of the following criteria:
a) you live in the county [ie Northumberland, Newcastle and North Tyneside council areas]
b) if in full time education, you attend school/college in the county
c) you were born in the county
These tournaments are a great opportunity to have fun, be with friends and test yourself against the best players in Northumberland. Winners of each age group are acknowledged as the County Champion in their age group for the rest of that season. The tournaments also create an opportunity for you to be watched in competition and possibly put you in contention for a place on a County Team. This tournament is normally the first one at the beginning of the season and anyone interested in playing Junior County Badminton should enter.
Junior County Restricted Tournaments are held over a weekend, usually in September, at the Tyneside Badminton Centre. Under 12 and under 16 events are held on the Saturday, Under 14 and under 18 events on the Sunday.
Dates for the Junior Restricted Tournaments will be advertised on our website and also at the Tyneside Badminton Centre. Your club, coach or school games organisers should also receive this information.
