2017 Volunteer awards

BADMINTON VOLUNTEERS RECEIVE THEIR AWARDS

Volunteers from badminton clubs in Northumberland, who have given up so much of their time over many years to help develop their clubs and also badminton as a sport, were deservedly rewarded for their efforts recently.  At the  Annual Presentation Evening of Northumberland Badminton Association, held at the Blue Flames Club, Vince Burini and Dave Nelson received their engraved trophies from Ian Little of Yehlex UK, who once again kindly provided the lovely trophies.  Vince was recognised for all he has done not only for his club, Hexham BC, but also for all his work to develop badminton in Tynedale.  Dave Nelson was justifiably rewarded for all he has done for The Parks Badminton Club, which grew from a group of players into a flourishing club whose home has always been The Parks Leisure Centre in North Shields.  Boj Goranov, who set up Medicals Badminton Club when he was studying medicine at Newcastle University, received his award early from Dennis Gray, Chairman of Northumberland Badminton Association, as he has now left the area unfortunately.

All 3 winners thoroughly deserved their awards.  Without volunteers like them, giving up so much of their time, clubs and the sport as a whole would be struggling.
